Stakeholder Interview
After 30 years in business at the same location, this shop owner needed a refereshed online presence. His previous site was put together by a loyal customer who had knowledge of web tech, but no real understanding of SEO or marketing. He expressed frustration of not having the time or expertise to update the site on his own, and the previous developer also seemed uninterested in helping. Key needs for the new website he expressed were real photos of the location, a contact form, and a link to the app or page for upcoming releases. He would also like to be able to sell his collection of custom designed t-shirts online, and possibly have the ecommerce ability for selling exclusive comics. But, The main goal of the site should be to drive more traffic into the store.
Customer Interviews
Regular patrons don't see a need currently to visit the website, some didn't even know one already existed. The only concern they have is what issues are being released and when. Although there is an app for this, it isn't available to apple users.
Competitive Analysis
The competing stores in the Rochester area also don't have a web presence. However, these 3 are typical of the bigger outlets across the country. Midtown and My Comic Shop are both noteably cluttered. Newberry has a nice streamlined look that makes areas of the site easy to find. All offer latest releases lists and at least some ecommerce features.
Results
The site has been live for a few weeks at the time of this writing. Traffic increases are notable on the website. The store owner also reports an increase in new foot traffic, as well as an increase in phone calls at the store.
