Client Story · Ongoing Site Care & Support
Problem: A well-established company had just made a major investment in a new website — then had a falling out with the developer who built it, leaving that investment with no one watching over it.
Solution: Four years (and counting) of dedicated site care from a trusted resource already inside their circle — managed hosting, security, backups, and support on call whenever it's needed.
The Client
Dakkota is one of the largest Native American women-owned companies in its industry, managing complex supply chain logistics and assembly sequencing for major automotive manufacturers across multiple plants. This isn't a small local business — it's a well-established, multi-site operation where a website outage or security lapse is a real business risk, not just an inconvenience.
How This Started
Dakkota is a long-time client I'd already earned trust with on other work. When their web developer built out a brand-new company website, it came at a serious cost — and the arrangement he wanted going forward, an ongoing monthly fee just to keep the site maintained, didn't sit right with the client. Before long, the relationship between Dakkota and that developer broke down entirely.
That left a well-established company holding a brand-new, expensive website with no one responsible for keeping it online, secure, or backed up. For a company running multiple manufacturing plants and a public-facing site that partners, suppliers, and job candidates rely on, that's not a gap that can sit open for long.
Dakkota didn't need another developer to pitch them a new project. They needed someone they already trusted to quietly take responsibility for what they already had.
What Was at Stake
A brand-new, costly website had no one responsible for its uptime, security, or backups the moment the old relationship ended.
The monthly cost the original developer wanted just to maintain the site didn't match the value or the relationship Dakkota needed going forward.
A multi-plant company with a public-facing site needed real security and backup infrastructure, not a best-effort afterthought.
The relationship with the original developer broke down right as the new site went live — the exact moment it needed the most support.
The Ongoing Work
Not a one-time project, but a standing commitment — the same infrastructure and attention a company this size needs, delivered by someone who already knows the business.
The site runs on an upgraded hosting environment with layered WordPress security, built to defend against the kind of threats a public company website attracts.
The entire site is backed up on an hourly basis, so nothing more than an hour's work is ever at risk if something goes wrong.
Site outages and problems get a real response, day or night — not a ticket queue. Dakkota has one person to call, and I answer.
Content changes, new pages, plant updates — whatever the business needs changed on the site happens without a change order or an extra invoice.
The Result
Why It Works
Dakkota didn't need a bigger agency or a flashier proposal. They needed someone who already understood the business, could be reached directly when something went wrong, and would treat their site like it mattered — because it does. Four years later, that site has stayed online, stayed secure, and stayed current, without Dakkota ever having to think twice about who's responsible for it.
I didn't design or build this website. But for the company that depends on it every day, keeping it running, protected, and current is its own kind of craftsmanship — and it's work I take just as seriously as a brand-new build.
If your website doesn't have anyone watching over it, let's fix that.
